Womens car insurance, for planes?

There may soon be a time when a womens car insurance policy includes cover for "accidents above ground". If you don't believe me then take a look at the Terrafugia Transition, the world's first flying car.

According to the vehicle's designers, the Transition will be legal to use on the road and considered a bona fide plane too.

It is thought that to begin with the flying car will retail for around £130,000. Sadly, this is a little above my budget, so I look forward to the day when the technology becomes more democratically priced and I am able to take off to Paris for a little weekend retail therapy.

I'll need to be careful though about just how much I buy – no crates of champagne for me. The Terrafugia carries only 23 stone, including pilot, passenger and luggage, which, I guess, also means that I may have to find myself a new, lighter husband if I'm to make my Paris trip a romantic weekend for two.

But weighing in at 13 stone myself, I'm not sure that I fancy a ten stone man – not that I've got anything against long distance runners.

Oh well, it looks like it's just going to be me and Biggles, my 4-year-old shih tzu; he's certainly got the right name for flight.
